About Us:
A Primary and Secondary SEND school in the borough of Merton for students aged with PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties), Sensory impairment including deaf, blindness and complex medical needs.
The children come from a wide range of backgrounds, but many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities such as ADHD, and communication difficulties.
This school is deeply committed to providing exceptional education to students with SEND.As a BSL Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- 1:1 Support: Provide dedicated support to students with hearing impairments.
- Ensure students have equal access to the curriculum and thrives academically.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement effective teaching strategies.
- Adapt materials to meet the individual needs of the student with hearing impairments.
- Inclusive Learning: Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment.
- Promote understanding and appreciation for diversity within the classroom.
- Classroom Activities: Assist students with various classroom activities to facilitate their learning.
- Ensure that the student with hearing impairments can actively participate in all class exercises.
- Tailored Educational Experience: Collaborate with the teaching staff to ensure a customized educational experience for every student.
- Implement modifications and accommodations to address the specific needs of the student with hearing impairments.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Minimum Level 2 certificate in British Sign language.
- Experience supporting students with hearing impairments.
- Ability to communicate effectively in BSL.
- Patience and good listening skills.
