  • About the role
Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Extract data from the college's Management Information System (MIS) and other relevant sources.
  • Manage the MIS systems and reporting and MIS data team.
  • Oversee all MIS functions, such as data collection, information management and reporting, ensuring robust and efficient collection methods are implemented and maintained, looking for opportunities to digitalise where appropriate.
  • Work with the Head of MIS to create and maintain all MIS data reports, including attendance, funding, and achievement, using a range of tools such as MIS student record system (ProSuite
  • ProSolution, ProAchieve, ProMonior), SQL and Excel and PowerBI / MSSQL Reporting Services.
  • Be responsible for the production of management information to facilitate strategic and curriculum planning for the college.
  • Ensure systems are compliant with Data Protection and GDPR liaising with the Data Protection officer (Head of MIS Data and Exams) as necessary.
  • Be responsible for and oversee the preparation, production and submission of all statistical returns required by external agencies (including ILR and HEIFES) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work with the Head of MIS Data and Exams submit all in year financial claims.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the college to understand their reporting needs and requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for improving reporting processes and developing new reports to meet changing needs.
  • Implement and maintain procedures in relation to the collection, processing and return of learner data for funding purposes in accordance with ESFA guidelines.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of the latest student eligibility, funding rules and audit requirements, and be able to share this knowledge with colleagues.
  • Working with the MIS Team Leader, utilise DSATs, Funding and Monitoring reports to maintain data quality that is compliant with funding and audit regulations, and use reports to inform training to continually improve practice.
  • Assist with continually review all MIS processes and procedures to maximise efficiency whilst maintaining excellent customerfocused services.
  • Line manage the MIS team, carrying out supervision and performance reviews within the department.
  • Support the college CPD programme by delivering training (online/inperson/written) on MIS and GDPR functions
Skills, knowledge and expertise


Qualifications and training:


  • Level 3 qualification in relevant discipline
  • Data management and/or computing qualification or significant work experience
  • Educated to degree level

Skills and expertise:


  • Experience of working with and analysing complex data sets, using advanced excel, SQL, Reporting Services and Power BI
  • Experience of working with a student records system. ProSuite would be advantageous but good working knowledge of other data systems
  • A comprehensive understanding of all ESFA funding streams and experience of ILR rules and audit regulations
