We wish to recruit outstanding ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team in the ASC Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) and contribute to ensuring our school continues to flourish.

Our purpose-built SRP, known as Silver Block, is located in the heart of The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College.

Silver Block supports students individually with a personalised programme, to enable them to navigate and develop within a mainstream setting.

We are seeking to appoint resourceful, enthusiastic and self-motivated ASC Learning Support Assistants to add to our innovative, friendly and supportive team.

The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College is committed to 'inspiring learners for their future'. We are an ambitious 11-18 school with 1600 students, 210 of which are Sixth Form.

Main responsibilities will include

  • Building and maintaining successful relationships with students.
  • Planning and preparing sessions to support EHCP outcomes.
  • Supporting learning in the mainstream classroom, whilst promoting independence.
  • Liaising with our team, parents, the wider school and other outside agencies (if required).
  • Nurturing students social, emotional health and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

This school has a strong academic reputation that has gone from strength to strength and shows the hard efforts of staff and pupils.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in partnership with the teaching staff in the school and staff from other schools that make up The White Horse Federation.

The Ridgeway School is passionate and committed to ensuring that our curriculum is engaging and inspiring, with high levels of creativity and innovation in our teaching and learning.

- be professional and have excellent communication skills
- have patience, compassion and a sense of humour to help encourage some of our most anxious and vulnerable students to achieve their full potential through a holistic approach
- be able to bring your own set of skills, interests and talents to complement our versatile team
- have the ability to work co-operatively within a team setting
- be flexible, motivated and keen to provide the best support possible for staff and students
- have a desire to build relationships with staff across the wider school community, acting as advocates for our students
- be passionate about positively promoting inclusion and have high expectations from and for our students

We encourage applicants from many fields of employment and/or education.

Ideally experience of working with young people of all ages and/or specific learning difficulties would be desirable, but not essential.

We can offer you

  • A comprehensive induction programme
  • A diverse, friendly and supportive team who look out for each other
  • Opportunities to continue with training in relevant areas of interest
  • Opportunities to take on extra responsibilities and roles, within the SRP and wider school
  • Challenging, but endearing young people, who will ensure that no day is the same, but every day is rewarding
