What can you expect in your day-to-day role?
As the Head of Division, you will hold a pivotal managerial position within our company.

This role is instrumental in managing a team of fire risk assessors, who provide vital technical guidance and the accurate evaluation of risk, both internally and to external clients of FCS's, building strong client relationships and uncovering potential opportunities for further operations.

Your teams' responsibilities will encompass offering comprehensive support to the respective client's project and internally to other divisions.

In addition, your role, will extend to providing on-site training and support, in the development of policies, processes, and the desired corporate culture.

Leading by example, you will help establish the foundational standards at FCS, emphasising quality over quantity.

In this role, you will engage regularly with client inquiries, prioritising customer-centricity.

Moreover, participation in virtual and in-person design, scope, and consultation meetings, as well as familiarisation site visits, will be essential.


  • Leading the Fire Risk Management Team in conducting generic fire safety advice to external clients, in the design, construction and occupied stages of a building's lifespan.
  • Validation of Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Strategies
  • Offering internal technical guidance aligned with legislation, regulations, guidance, and FCS policy to the Fire Risk Management Team.
  • Engaging with clients on new contracts, delivering and defining scopes of work as necessary.
  • Ensuring quality assurance in accordance with FCS policies and procedures.
  • Providing highlevel strategic feedback on business development and progress on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensuring comprehensive compliance and proficiency among technical staff.
  • Overseeing team recruitment when needed.
  • Conducting employee appraisals and setting performance goals.
  • Managing PlanRadar and Aurora software quality assurance and developing inspection programs.
  • Offering onsite support to clients as required.
  • Collaborating with clients on all matters related to Fire Safety including Fire Risk Assessments, Fire Safety Statements, Fire Strategies, Fire Line Drawings and similar projects.
  • Assisting in the recruitment and management of new team members, including vetting and contract negotiations.
  • Cultivating client relationships to develop ongoing partnerships and facilitate contract expansion.
  • Advising on the training needs for all technical personnel, ensuring competence and ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and showcasing a track record of establishing and maintaining strong connections with colleagues, clients, and contractors. Attendance at both internal and external design team meetings will be expected.
  • You will demonstrate your position as a leader in all aspects of your role, by your conduct, providing mentorship and technical guidance to team members.

Technical Skills we would like to see from you.

  • Proficiency in fire risk assessments, building regulations (including AD B and BS 9999), British Standards, Health and Safety Regulations, and all current legislations.
  • Understanding of the procedures involved from initial enquiry to practical completion.
  • Membership in a recognised professional fire safety organisation such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and/or Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM).
