About the Post
We are seeking a University Secretary who will have responsibility for governance, legal affairs, and regulatory compliance assurance.

With accountability both to the Vice-Chancellor and the Chair of the Board of Directors, the post-holder will ensure that the Board, its subsidiaries, and its committees are advised and supported at a senior level, ensuring that high standards of governance are maintained, and the business is conducted professionally, effectively, and efficiently.

The University Secretary will also be responsible for overseeing compliance with regulatory requirements across a range of the University's activities, working cross-functionally with staff in various teams.

The postholder will be the Data Protection Officer for the University and will provide leadership and management to staff in the Vice-Chancellor's Office and Data Governance team.

The postholder will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team which is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the University.

About the Team
The Vice-Chancellor's Office oversees the institution from an academic, operational and governance perspective.

It comprises the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer, and the University Secretary, with their Executive and Professional support staff.

The Senior Leadership Team of the university is supportive, friendly, and transformation focussed.

Though it should be noted that the University is undergoing a period of change, including the commencement of a new Vice Chancellor in August 2024, the wider university team is one which strives to achieve the best possible experience and outcomes for both our students and staff, and it is essential that you share this aspiration.

We are a values-driven organisation, committed to transformation, empowerment, professionalism, creativity, collaboration, and inclusion.

About You

You will be agile and adept, able to support and listen as well as enable good decision making for the longer term.

We are in transition of leadership at the University so experience of change and change management will be an advantage.
