Overall Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a Technical Specialist (Computational Chemist) to join our Technical Operations team, which strives to provide a sector leading technical support for FSE and the wider University.

The Technical Specialist (Computational Chemistry) will provide an agile technical support service to staff and PhD, MSc and MChem final year research project students to support teaching and research.

The post holder will also:

Work closely with staff in the Faculty of Science and Engineering to ensure the effective maintenance, security and reliability of specialist computer software and hardware systems for research and teaching.
Support academic staff and students using specialist hardware or software systems, including training users where appropriate.
Work with academic and research leads to design and futureproof IT requirements and liaising with IT Services and Research IT as appropriate.
