Description

WCL are currently looking for a Skilled Machine Shop Operator to operate the finishing cell, this includes Surface grinding, lapping decks, Edm sinkers and finishing operations on Benchwork (Die grinders).

It is the Finishing Operatives role is to load, run and measure components which are being machined to a precise size and surface finish.

In addition to the tasks detailed in the Job Description, the Finishing Operative may be asked to perform additional tasks which are not noted in this document that the Machine Shop Supervisor / Team Leader deems fit.

The Finishing Operative will report to the Team Leader and Machine Shop Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adhere to all safe working practices.
It is the Finishing Operatives responsibility to ensure he/she always works in safe manner.
Manufacture precision components with the complete ability of reading and understanding engineering drawings, tolerances/surface finish etc.
Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Machine components in line with the M.I.S (Machining Instruction Sheet).
Ensure that all procedures and manufacturing processes are followed correctly.
Ensure "first off" checks are carried out on every operation to establish a standardised "right first time" culture, all scrap to be recorded immediately, recording findings and signing appropriate paperwork.
Ensure to sign all relevant paperwork & scan "on & off" when starting & finishing jobs.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Strong teamwork skills.
Capable of reading Engineering diagrams.
Good IT and Communication skills.
Ability to problem solve.
Good engineering background on Grinding and Lapping.

The role requires an individual who is prepared to take ownership and be accountable for the manufacturing process. A flexible can-do attitude is essential in this demanding role.

Shift Pattern:
Mornings, Afternoons currently; however, expectation is to be flexible and be willing to work overtime.

Rate:
£13.53 Plus shift allowance

Salary:
£13.53 per hour
