About MarCloud:

MarCloud is a fast-growing and leading technology consultancy focussed on Salesforce and based in Liverpool. We are a growing B2B services business, acquiring clients across the globe like McCains, Ingenico, Lloyd's Register and others. We also have an arm of the business developing new technologies in-house.


We hired our first employee in 2020, grew through the pandemic and are now at a team of almost 30 people, still 100% owned by the founder and CEO.

We have ambitious growth plans and a talented team to get us there and now we need a strong finance professional to really own the finance function within MarCloud.


Position Overview:

MarCloud is looking for a Head of Finance.

As our first finance hire, we need someone with experience managing deferred income, revenue recognition and is interested in working within a fast-paced technology consultancy that has payroll set up in the UK and Ireland.


As a relatively small team of almost 30 people, we work with clients across the globe on projects and long-term retainers.

We have big growth ambitions and this role will be pivotal in enabling profitable growth.

The Head of Finance will report directly to the CEO and will be critical in supporting his decision-making.

The role will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including invoicing, forecasting, cashflow management, budgeting, reporting, salary reviews, and business planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Financial Management:

  • Overseeing all financial activities and working closely with the Leadership team and external accountants on financial reporting, profitability analysis, forecasting growth, pricing analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Monitoring cash flow, liquidity and general financial performance to identify risks and opportunities and provide recommendations for improvement

Strategic Planning:

  • Budgeting that aligns with the financial plan and adapts based on realworld performance
  • Evaluating and recommending financial systems and tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • Assisting with staff recruitment and human resources to ensure we remain competitive in attracting and retaining the best talent
  • Collaborating with other departments, such as operations, sales, and human resources, to provide financial insights and support strategic decisionmaking

Financial Analysis:

  • Calculating and reporting on financial & nonfinancial KPIs (e.g profitability, deferred income, revenue recognition & utilisation)
  • Produce variance analysis reports with narrative for Leadership management meetings
  • Monitoring and reviewing Work-InProgress and other balance sheet accounts for any nonchargeable, irrecoverable or internal costs
  • Manage and own Xero. This will include working with our external accountants to ensure accurate bank reconciliation, management of invoices, automated debt chasing, expense management, reviewing our chart of accounts and producing meaningful reports.
  • Work closely with our external accountants and internal HR Manager on monthly payroll checks for the UK and Irish employees. Review PAYE, national insurance, pensions and employee commission payments.

Compliance and Regulation:

  • Developing and implementing financial policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices
  • Staying abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations and industry trends to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
  • Preparing & submitting VAT returns.
  • Liaison with Insurance Companies
  • Manage annual salary reviews
  • Manage annual R&D tax relief claims
  • Any ad hoc financial duties as instructed by the Company's Board of Directors and leadership team

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong individual willing to challenge the Leadership team on difficult topics
  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA preferred, CIMA minimum)
  • Experience with Xero, Fathom, Dext and other financial software (preferable not essential)
  • Previous experience working within a similar broad, handson role, within an SME environment, would be desirable.
  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance or similar role
  • Highly proficient utilising a range of financial analytical tools such as excel, Google Sheets, tableau etc
  • Indepth knowledge of regulatory issues, accounting and tax planning in the UK (required) Ireland (desirable) & other international territories (desirable)
  • Ability to convey complex financial information in a simple, understandable format
  • Experience with deferred income and revenue recognition
  • Able to produce management accounts and P&L's
  • Must be confident working autonomously
  • Technically competent
