With You are recruiting for a committed Harm Reduction Lead, who will provide support, information and advice to individuals in relation to reducing drug and alcohol related harm.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Harm Reduction Lead to join our team in Liverpool.

The role will include leading the Harm Reduction service alongside an experienced and dedicated team of Recovery Workers. You will deliver Needle Exchange Provision internally and externally a mobile needle exchange.

You will have experience in the substance misuse field and have a passion for supporting individuals to reduce harm to themselves and work to recovery goals.


The role will include working with individuals in one to one settings and delivering psychosocial interventions as well as harm reduction advice, carrying a small caseload, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and report writing, data collection and input and the attendance of partnership meetings.


What we're looking for


You will have a minimum of two years experience in health and social care, criminal justice or another relevant setting, as well as holding a NVQ 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

You will be a compassionate and motivated individual with a demonstrable track record of working with substance misuse service users, having the ability to connect quickly with the people we support, treating them respectfully and with dignity.

This is a busy team, with multiple priorities ongoing, so it's important that you are highly organised and resilient and able to manage your time effectively.

Essential Skills:


  • Evidence of continuous professional development
NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent

  • Min 2 years experience of working in the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting
  • Successful track record of working with substance misuse service users
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing highrisk situations for service users
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external
stakeholders

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Resilient; ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Ability to work autonomously and make reasoned decisions without immediate managerial guidance.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • IT skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and digital media
  • Organised and excellent time management skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of:
  • Harm minimisation interventions
  • Assessment, care planning and key working
  • Issues affecting substance misusers
  • Rehabilitation
  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy and/or motivational interviewing
  • Able to meet We Are With You's safeguarding requirements of a satisfactory enhanced PVG certificate
  • Ability to work flexible and unsocial hours as required
  • Commitment to the organisation's Guiding Principles and Behaviours

Desired Skills:


  • Diploma level qualification in Drugs and Alcohol or relevant discipline
  • Registered nurse / registered mental health nurse
  • Previous experience in injecting equipment provision and/or delivery of other harm minimisation interventions
  • Previous experience in providing safer drug use advice

  • Google suite
