About the role:

Based in a busy production area made up of Electrical and Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers and Goods In workers with responsibility for inspecting and testing components before they are assembled onto the machine.

Main Responsibilities:

Management:

Maintaining standard procedures for quality inspection of all components and subassemblies
Maintaining standard procedures for rejection of delivered items on quality issues
Liaising with suppliers

Quality:

Inspecting all critically dimensioned components and test vacuum integrity of subassemblies
Ensuring that they are of the expected standard of quality
Confirming that the specification matches the order
Liaising closely with Purchasing and Engineering to align rejection recommendations
Ensuring completion of correct paperwork and follow up actions
Inspecting of all machined components where required
Vacuum testing of machine components
Pressure testing of components and subassemblies

Development:

Contributing to ideas/innovation for continuous improvement
Willing to develop existing skills

Skills and experience required:

Practical understanding of engineering gained through a time served apprenticeship as a Fitter with a Mechanical bias preferred
Willingness to travel on a worldwide basis around 4 times a year

- experience of using computerised digital measuring equipment or willing to be trained to use it
- experience of using surface measuring equipment

Computer literate

- an ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- ability to read Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges and Indicators
- strong problem solving skills

Desirable Experience:

Crane/lifting equipment
Vacuum systems
Pneumatic, hydraulic, machine controls, rotating machinery and other mechanical systems
Capital machinery
Gas Safety training
