The University's Content Team is looking for a Publications Officer, for a fixed term, 10-month secondment cover role with an option to extend.
You will take responsibility for researching, writing, collating and editing content for the University's monthly staff magazine, Bulletin, uploading and publishing each issue through the online CMS.
You will also contribute to the wider work of the Content Team.The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced corporate marketing department, with a team of designers, videographers, editors and writers, to contribute to the creation of a varied suite of content for use by the University of Edinburgh in its communications with staff and in future marketing and brand campaigns.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Ability to write for different audiences, copy edit and proofread, all in accordance with our existing corporate style guidelines, to ensure content is brand appropriate and positively promotes the work of the University.
- An eye for photography, design and layout is essential. Experience writing for or producing magazinestyle editorial content would be an advantage.
- Experience of successfully managing and meeting competing deadlines, prioritising your own workload as appropriate and demonstrating the organisational skills to achieve this.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Competency in basic office IT skills essential. Experience of Photoshop or similar image editing software, and/or of WordPress or a Drupalbased CMS would be an advantage.

The Content Team works across a combination of print and digital publications, including the Undergraduate Guide, the staff magazine Bulletin, and the Edinburgh Impact website.
