**Base salary: £53850 to c£67300 depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

To review current and future train planning assumptions which were produced during the hybrid bill submissions and ensure the output meets the operational vision for the introduction into service for phases 1, 2a and 2b.

To review proposed system design to ensure they meet the demands of the 2b 18tph timetable specifications and also offer the operational flexibility during degraded operations but are cognisant of operational maintenance cost and risk.

To ensure that current and future train service specifications are aligned with the future timetables for the interfacing routes and rolling stock circulation and stabling is considered in these proposals.

**About the role

The purpose of the Railway Operations Directorate is to define the vision for the operational state of the railway and ensure that this is reflected through the delivery programme.

Additionally, the directorate will mobilise the operational organisation ready to undertake the maintenance, renewals and operation of the railway, stations and depot assets in a safe, efficient manner providing a high level of performance and customer experience.


In order to do this, Railway Operations will:


Develop the Blueprint for the Programme's operational stage(s) - "the end state" - in order to assure delivery of the Programme's Goals and Strategic Objectives.

In particular - (a) identification, management and delivery of the needs of end users and future Operators of the Whole Railway (b) design future Operating businesses (c) collaborate with others to ensure that HS2 is an integral part of the nation's transport system.


Develop the HS2 Rolling Stock and Depots Strategy and, once approved, manage the procurement and delivery into service of the HS2 Rolling Stock and Depots.


Plan for and mobilise the Operating businesses for the operational stage(s) - HS2 Infrastructure Manager; Train and Station Operations - as Proxy Operator until such time as the DfT has put in place the initial Train and Station Operators; and Rolling Stock Owner.


Ensure that the assumptions and benefits proposed in the business case are consistent with the vision for the operational railway, and are deliverable.


About You

Skills:


  • Confident IT user for both generic office programmes and railway industrywide operations planning software
  • Engage with, influence and manage operational level internal and external stakeholders on contentious projects Attention to detail ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in data and proposals.

Knowledge:


  • Knowledge of UK railway geography
  • Working knowledge of railway signalling systems and railway infrastructure design including track, electrification and stations
  • Indepth knowledge of train planning rules
  • Timetable modelling and development Scenario modelling using railsys, railplan, tracsys sytems or any other relevant industry recognised modelling tool

Type of Experience:


  • Background within the Operational Railway environment
  • Membership of IRO or other relevant body (preferable)
