Job Introduction
New Scientist's Projects Coordinator plays a pivotal role in delivering our range of events and commercial projects.


New Scientist now offers a huge range of live and on demand products, from virtual events to large scale consumer exhibitions, as well as tours, there's something for anyone curious about science and why it matters.


New Scientist's Commercial and Events Team sell bespoke solutions to a broad range of customers which necessitate the creation and delivery of bespoke projects that encompass written and audio content, events and video production.

The team also organise a range of live consumer events from the award-winning New Scientist Live three-day festival of ideas and discoveries, through to one-day masterclasses and virtual evening lectures.


This role is to provide maternity cover for our Projects Coordinator in supporting the Head of Product Delivery to plan and deliver New Scientist Events and Commercial projects.


Projects Coordinator will work closely with the commercial and events team to lead on the delivery of a number of commercial projects and support the planning and delivery of our events programme.


Main Responsibilities
Project Coordination of New Scientist commercial projects (CoLab)

  • Engaging with client stakeholders, key suppliers (freelance writers, event hosts, market researchers etc.) and colleagues in design, marketing and production to ensure ad hoc commercial projects are delivered on time and match the client's contracted deliverables.
  • Ensure commercial projects are delivered to the agreed cost and all P+L documentation is kept uptodate.
Project Coordination of the New Scientist events programme and New Scientist Live

  • Coordinate the P+L for virtual events programme, providing regular updates and projections to the Events Manager, Events Director and Management Accounting team.
  • Support in the management of our key event suppliers to ensure all events are delivered to agreed costs
  • Working with the content and marketing functions to ensure events are launched to market according to agreed schedule
  • Maintaining a keen focus on customer experience:
  • Monitoring customer feedback and reporting back to team
  • Working with the wider events team to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction across all our events at agreed target levels
Event delivery

  • Working with our content team and our key event suppliers and our virtual event production team to deliver professional highquality events
  • Provide onsite support at our events for customers and the content team to ensure the smooth running of all our events
  • Coordinate the ticket sales and virtual event signon process for all our events to ensure a smooth effortfree experience for all our event attendees

Person Specification
