Description

The purpose of this job is to provide administrative and housekeeping support to the Blood Sciences Laboratory that is flexible, adaptable and supportive.

Wye Valley NHS Trust is a small District General Hospital covering a beautiful, rural part of the country.

The Blood Sciences Department consists of Anti-coagulation, Blood Transfusion, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Immunology providing services to the 180,000 residents of Herefordshire and Powys.

The department is accredited to ISO 15189 and is licensed to Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005 by the MHRA.


  • Supporting all departments within Blood Sciences with administrative duties including scanning and filing of documentation, stock control and rotation.
  • General laboratory housekeeping throughout Blood Sciences.
  • Support Blood Sciences with troubleshooting and corrective actions for Maxims Pathology requests.
  • Data entry of results into the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • To communicate with employees, GPs and other medical and nursing staff to answer questions, disseminate or explain information and address complaints.
