  • Job Description 1The Scientific Services Unit for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire is one of the leading Scientific Services Units in the country and now has a Fulltime vacancy at Parkside Police Station in Cambridge.

Location:


  • The position is based at Parkside Police Station, Cambridge, CB1 1JG and is a fixed site role. Whilst you will be part of a triforce team you will be required to work from this location, agile working is not suitable due to nature of the role, however there may be the need to travel within the triforce on occasion.


The Scientific Services Unit utilises a vacancy-based career progression scheme to fill scenes of crime positions at a higher level and therefore individuals looking to pursue a career in Scenes of Crime are encouraged to apply.


Daily duties can include but are not limited to:

  • QA checking of exhibits for accuracy and recording any errors found
  • Processing exhibits for onward travel to other units within the department and to external providers
  • Receiving and moving exhibits to storage areas on return to the unit
  • Assisting with monthly store ordering
  • Deal with enquiries from Police Officers both by phone and face to face
  • Cleaning of Admin areas and recording of when tasks are completed


The post holder will provide excellent customer service to the Police network in which we work and outside partner agencies while managing a wide range of tasks, looking for ways to improve the service we deliver.

Salary - Starting point £23,121 - £24,462

The post will be based at Parkside, Cambridge

The role is eligible for the Local Government Pension Scheme which is administered by LGSS in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

The pension contributions are made up of employer contributions that your force pays in on your behalf and employee contributions that are taken through payroll.


Employer contributions vary by force :

Bedfordshire 17.7% of salary, Cambridgeshire 22.9% of salary and Hertfordshire 18.6% of salary with the employee contribution being 5.8% for this pay grade.
