    Senior Quantity Surveyor - Yorkshire West Division

    About the Role

    The Commercial team drives cost-effective building activities, encompassing quantity surveying, estimating, procurement, and material buying.

    With oversight on material choice, costs, customer satisfaction, and sales, our Commercial team—comprising Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, and Material Buyers—works to deliver quality homes at optimal costs. This role is critical to our business's sustainability, offering a dynamic environment that challenges your creativity and commercial skills.

    You will oversee commercial and surveying responsibilities for large sites, managing costs, budgets, valuations, and ensuring compliance with policies. You will also train and manage subordinates, and engage in value engineering to stay ahead of market trends.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain cost control procedures within Group policies
    • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
    • Stay updated on new materials, construction methods, and regulations
    • Train and mentor subordinates
    • Manage budgets, valuations, and cost reconciliation
    • Control all commercial tasks on large sites, including those with over 200 units
    • Contribute to design options within budget
    • Compile site start budgets and coordinate with departments
    • Lead value engineering efforts
    • Maintain budget control and manage overruns
    • Prepare accurate site development costs
    • Analyze costs and cash flow
    • Procure subcontractors and materials following procedures
    • Evaluate and approve variations and instructions
    • Liaise with site personnel and subcontractors to optimize productivity
    • Attend project meetings and present commercial updates
    • Manage valuations and ensure compliance with codes and standards
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Commercial Manager
