Project Accountant - Finance Business Partner, South Mimms, Herts., £50-65K + £5.4K Car Allowance + 10% bonus + bens.

A qualified Accountant - CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified or QBE, you will have a background in Project Accounting, tracking costs etc.

Youwill also need advanced Excel with the ability to analyse and manipulate a large quantity of data.
The role;

  • Act as Finance lead for the Service Delivery Directorate, supporting and challenging the Service Delivery leadership team.
  • Overall financial management responsibility, to include the provision of meaningful and accurate financial information, with insightful interpretation and analysis.
  • To implement effective data analytics to help understand business performance and enhance profitability.
  • Ensure robust cost capture and review at project level which is fully reconciled to business management accounts.
  • To partner with operational and commercial colleagues to achieve improved business performance.
  • Providing a link between the Service Delivery Directorate and the central Finance department.
  • To communicate wider business objectives to the directorate via the budgeting process, and to achieve ownership of those objectives by the cost centre leads through participation in target setting, and their involvement in the monthly review of financialperformance.
  • To embrace and lead change to embed a cultural shift from solely delivery to delivery of both programme and financial performance.
  • To represent the Directorate at Senior Management Team and Senior Leadership Team levels.
Responsibilities;

  • Responsible for annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting and monthly reporting of the financial performance of the Service Delivery Directorate.
  • Report actual performance monthly against budget/forecast, understand variances, and track risk and opportunities to meeting targets.
  • Assist the commercial and operations team to recognise revenue on all activities monthly, challenging where necessary.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve anomalies arising during monthly reporting.
  • Lead the monthly internal financial review with the commercial and operational teams.
  • To represent the Service Delivery Directorate at the Senior Management Team and Senior Leadership Team meeting.
  • Oversee the weekly cost reporting process, to include insights from the electronic time sheeting system.
  • Oversee weekly reconciliation of Service Delivery Inventory.
  • Production of adhoc reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
Management Duties;

  • To coach and support Service Delivery operational managers and commercial team through a process of education and participation, to own delivery of their budgets.
  • To challenge the veracity of inputs to ensure the quality of the directorates' financial reporting.
  • Overall management of WIP and Overmeasure for the directorate.
  • Act as the interface from Service Delivery back to wider Finance team.
  • To maintain the Risk & Opportunities schedule for the directorate.
  • Support the operational and commercial colleagues with any finance related issues.
  • Undertake an annual review of processes and procedures. Review applicability and eliminate waste.
Wider Finance Duties

  • Maximise directorate profitability through effective financial management, challenge and insight.
  • Minimise miscoding of transactions through education and review.
  • To be the finance contact for audit queries pertaining to the Service Delivery Directorate.
This Project Accountant - Finance Business Partner position is a hybrid role and is based in South Mimms, Herts. It is paying c£50-65K + £5.4K Car Allowance + 10% bonus + Bens, depending on relevant experience.
