A key support role within the Planning & Space team providing reporting and administrative support to the Commercial Analyst.

The role will be required to support the growth of various areas of the business such as License, Social & Campaigns and Primark Cares.

The Trading Assistant will support the Commercial Analyst to perform a more insights and commercial focused role.

Specific Responsibilities

Maintain systems and records accurately to ensure we launch our key campaigns with impact, in a timely manner

  • Support Commercial Analyst, Product and Brand Business Partners, and Licensed team, to be aware of the key campaign launches ahead of the season and liaise throughout the season to ensure updates are captured.
  • Update, monitor and analyse Intake Trackers for campaign launches.
  • Make recommendations to the Commercial Analyst to resolve issues such as delayed handovers.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Supply Chain teams to ensure their records are accurate for campaigns and understand wider factors that may influence intake.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely completion of all launch activity on the system
  • Support the Commercial Analyst with reporting and analysis of sales, stock and profitability of campaigns.
  • Develop understanding of the key business KPIs used to draw conclusions on the performance of campaigns.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to the process as new systems and reporting are launched
  • Create and carry out training for the B&M teams on Campaign launch processes and provide support for queries. Ensure new starters are trained.
  • Review and analyse sales, stock and intake to guide the Social Media teams to post relevant and available products on all channels
  • Responsible for confirming availability of product proposed for posting on channels including Instagram to the Social Media team
  • Support the Commercial Analyst with reporting and analysis of sales of featured product, developing understanding of the KPIs involved
  • Liaise with Social Media team and other functions in the business to make recommendations for improvements to the process as new systems and reporting are launched
  • Support the wider Commercial Trading team with BAU trading activity and reporting
  • Take responsibility for own career progression and deputise for the Commercial Analyst where required

General Responsibilities

Maximising Sales, Opportunities and Performance

  • Provide the necessary B&M systems support to enable the efficient operation of trading across departments
  • Responsible for compiling and maintaining companywide weekly and periodic reporting for events, themes and promotional campaigns.
  • Produce daily and weekly stock and sales reports for the business.
  • Carry out system tasks to support the wider trading activities.

Analysis & Administration

  • Assist the Commercial Analyst with general administration and adhoc projects as they arise
  • To manage and maintain accurate and timely analysis of all agreed key performance indicators
  • To provide ad hoc statistical analysis as required

People & Collaboration

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to identify commercial opportunities across the business
  • Work with teams across the business to gather required numerical data.
  • Positively challenge colleagues to influence the wider business strategy.
  • Educate colleagues by sharing information and insights.
  • Present analytical data to senior leaders.

Key Interactions as part of this role:

Reporting to the Commercial Analyst, the Trading Assistant will work collaboratively across all areas of the Planning & Space function and feed their expertise and insights into the wider business strategy.

The Trading Assistant will also be required to partner closely and collaborate with the Brand Team including the Product & Brand Business Partners, Web & Social Media Team, Supply Chain (inbound, at origin and destination), Buying & Merchandising teams, Licensed team including Licensed & DTR Analyst, Commercial Director and Commercial Managers and Support teams.

  • Someone with an understanding of Fashion and Merchandising. Qualifications in Fashion, Merchandising, Retail Management, Business, Maths, or a similar discipline are a plus. Or, if you're already a talented Merchandising Assistant we would be very interested in hearing from you.
