The Role - Grounds Maintenance Operative


We are currently looking to recruit several enthusiastic grounds maintenance operatives to maintain the gardens and grounds on housing estates.

Full training would be provided and duties would include mowing, headge strimming and basic flowerbed maintenance.

The suitable person will be ideally be based around the fLITWICK area and would be travelling to housing estates and housing developments across a large area so a driving licence would be an essential requirement.


Duties/Key Responsibilities

  • Horticultural grounds maintenance tasks at the contracted sites.
  • Driving company vehicles and transporting plant, machinery and equipment.
  • General maintenance of grounds e.g. Grass cutting, clearing of debris, leaves, litter, hedge and shrub trimming.
  • Chemical and handweed control.
  • Ensuring that all visited locations are left in a clean and tidy state.
  • Maintenance of records relating to tasks performed, timesheets, materials, vehicles and equipmen.t
  • Maintenance of vehicles and machinery and reporting vehicles defects.
  • Use of appropriate tools and equipment including the operation of powered hand tools, minor plant and ride on machinery.

Skills Required:


  • Resilience under pressure.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Grounds maintenance or gardening experience would be essential.
  • Ability to work to laid down schedules.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative.
  • Enthusiasm, drive, ambition and commitment.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and safety procedures.
