Job title:
Mechanical Assemblers.

Number of positions: 8+


Job location:
Birkenhead,

Shifts Mornings and Afternoons.

Payrate:
Mornings, £15.93 per hour / afternoons £18.80 per hour.
Hours per week: 37 hour per week.
Morning hours: 7.30am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 12pm on Friday.
Afternoon Hours: 4pm to 12am Monday to Thursday, 10.00am to 3pm on Friday.

Duration:
Temporary to permanent.(you will start on a contract with a look to going permanent at a later date)

Start date:
late March / April.

Industries considered:
All engineering or "hands-on" backgrounds - just need an understanding of tools the rest will be taught.
Great opportunity to be fully trained as a Mechanical Fitter, all training provided.

Client Summary:
Leading manufacturer and front line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include brake and engine overhaul for locomotive.

The Training:


You will be given one weeks paid on the job bespoke training; you will learn everything you need to know about overhauling parts for the rolling stock industry, upon completion of the initial training your development will continue at work until you are a fullyqualified Mechanical Fitter.


Position Summary:
Stripping brakes, Couplers, Valves and engine parts within the Rail industry. You will be working in teams to breakdown mechanical systems on locomotive parts and rebuilding them.

Roles can include:

  • Parts strip down or strip down of components and rebuild.
  • Perform tasks within the assembly areas considered to be within his/her capability.
  • Overhaul, repair, assemble and test a variety of equipment, including warranty returns, refurbished and new callipers, actuators, discs, couplers, brake control equipment, etc.
  • Fitting newly refurbished parts back together.
  • Pars cleaning.
  • Build test installations in line with test specifications and schematics.
  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks and specified routine preventative maintenance some of which may be outside the assembly areas.
  • Various mechanically based tasks.
  • Using hand tools.

Person Profile/Experience:

  • Any engineering experience, whether that be working on a production line building backhoe's to working in a garage or even just fixing cars as a hobby.
  • Can do attitude, good with your hands, willing to learn.
  • Willingness to undertake the training.
