Learning Support Assistant


Location:
Oldham


Tempest Education is currently looking for an experienced learning support assistant to work at a local secondary academy in the Oldham area.

You will be working with secondary age pupils across KS3 & KS4 supporting them with their studies and providingextra assistance as and when required.


The role will be classroom based and you will support pupils on both a 1-1 basis and in small groups.

There will also be some whole group support as well. Some pupils will have SEND including autism, ADHD & dyslexia and other pupils may display some challengingbehaviour. You will need to be able to quickly engage with and build rapport with these pupils.


The position is due to begin after February half-term and is offered on a long-term basis, 5 days per week through until the end of the academic year.


Key requirements

  • Previous experience working with pupils at KS3 & KS
  • Calm and patient demeanour
  • Able to engage with pupils from a variety of backgrounds
  • Happy to work on a 11 basis and in small groups
  • Whole class support
  • Supporting the classroom teacher
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND preferred
  • Strong behaviour management techniques


The role would suit someone who has previously worked in a secondary school as a behaviour mentor or teaching assistant but also someone who has worked with students in a different setting such a sports club, drama club, youth club or as a Scout or Guideleader.
