POST TITLE:
Team Lead (Learning Disability)


REPORTING TO:
Registered Manager


Location:
Mealough Cottages


JOB PURPOSE:


To lead a group of support staff on duty to provide effective and appropriate quality care for people with learning and/or physical disabilities, and/or behaviours that may challenge; which aims to maximise the potential of each individual.

To take a lead responsibility for whole service.

To understand and implement policies and procedures of the service


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Care:


  • To provide care for Service Users as required while supporting optimal independence.
  • To review and re assess the resident's needs as required and communicate changes effectively to all appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure all Service Users medical needs are met in partnership with them and records completed accurately.
  • Following training and assessment administer medication in accordance with Company policies and procedures,
  • Demonstrate understanding of what to do in the case of a medical emergency,
  • Ensure that Clients' personal property and clothing is maintained to a high standard, and report any requirements to the Registered Manager.
  • Be aware of and understand all aspects of potential abuse ensuring that the Service Users safety and well being is upheld at all times. 12. Maintain a professional and appropriate care worker / resident relationship at all times. 13. Encourage and enable Service Users to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene. 14. Arrange, and participate in, Staff and Client meetings as and when required.

Management and supervision of staff:

  • To take a lead role on shift delegating appropriately to staff in the team. 2. To allocate staff appropriately to each section of Mealough Cottagesfor the duration of the shift when taking a lead taking into consideration resident / staff ratio's and appropriate training.
  • Direct Staff Members in their duties, ensuring that all required tasks are completed to the agreed standard.
  • Supervise care staff throughout the shift monitoring care delivered. Give effective feedback to staff as required.
  • Ensure that the care provided demonstrates a full understanding of learning disabilities and is in accordance with the agreed care plan.
  • Maintain accurate and factual file notes for staff as required and forward to the Registered Manager.
  • Contribute to the annual appraisal for agreed group of staff ensuring that the objectives are SMART and agreed by both parties.
  • Ensure Staff Members perform their role to the highest possible standard, and implement the Mealough CottagesDiscipline & Dismissal polices and procedures as directed by Registered Manager.
  • Report any discrepancies in staff Members' attendance, annual leave and absences in line with the Company's policies and procedures to the Registered Manager
  • Escalate appropriately any staffing difficulties to the Manager

Marketing, Training and Development:


  • Actively market Mealough Cottagesby promoting a positive personal / professional profile within the local community ensuring the good reputation of Mealough Cottagesat all times.
  • Assist the Registered Manager in the induction of new Staff Members and the provision of in
- house training as delegated to do so.


  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence. 4. Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required. 5. Participate in relevant training to achieve required qualifications.

Health & Safety

  • Report immediately to the Registered Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Resident, colleague, self or other.
  • Understand and implement Mealough Cottagespolicies on Fire, Emergency procedures and Health and Safety.
  • Report to the Registered Manager immediately any faulty equipment, furniture or potential hazard. In the absence of the Registered manager take responsibility for addressing these issues with the maintenance staff.
  • At all times promote and maintain safe working practices including the security of the building.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring all equipment is clean and well maintained at all times.

General:


  • Maintain financial records in line with Company policies and procedures
  • Undertake any administrative tasks as required. 3. Contribute effectively to planned reviews of care standards and develop best practice at all times. 4. Implement and monitor compliance with standards lay down by The
Regulation of Quality and Improvement Authority. Report urgently to the Registered Manager any concerns identified.


  • Maintain confidentiality of all information gained in the course of your work at all times.
  • Notify the Registered manager as soon as possible of your inability to report for work, informing them of the nature of absence and expected date of return.
