An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join the Cardiology Department within the Medicine Division.


You will be working as part of the specialist nursing team on the City campus supporting the ACS and CATs team with administration and secretarial duties.

Main duties of the job


In addition to the summary below, you will need to familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification.

Duties will include audio typing of clinical letters, incoming mail and investigation results.


It will be essential that the post holder can demonstrate excellent communication skills and be an organised individual, as well as being able to work on their own initiative.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • 4 GCSEs inc English
  • Typing qualification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and experience of using software programmes eg Microsoft Office
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of a range of secretarial procedures
  • Minimum of 2 years secretarial experience
  • Medical terminology
Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working for the NHS
  • Knowledge of hospital systems
  • Minute taking experience
Communication and relationship

  • Ablility to work as a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide and receive routine information which may sometimes be sensitive and complex
  • Ability to communicate information using a variety of written and verbal skills

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
