The role
As a Business Improvement Specialist ,you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.

Babcock provides services including fleet time engineering, facilities management, waterfront services, logistics and transport within an agreed operating budget, firmly focused on continuous and sustainable improvement in warship and submarine support.


Day to day, you'll Day to day, you'll facilitate and deliver multiple improvement projects, cascading the most appropriate techniques to all areas and people involved.

You will coach and facilitate individuals and groups in the use of business improvement tools and techniques to enable the consistent delivery of change at all levels in the organisation.


  • Facilitation and delivery of multiple improvement projects, cascading the most appropriate techniques to all areas and people involved.
  • Assist the Management in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the section's resource.
  • Coach and facilitate individuals and groups in the use of business improvement tools and techniques to enable the consistent delivery of change at all levels in the organisation.
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company's cost, time and quality requirements.
  • Implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Business Improvement area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.
  • Facilitate group workshops in the pursuit of Process Improvements at all levels across the site, ensuring that robust governance arrangements are in place for project management and control.
  • Deliver presentations as required to ensure progress and quality is proactively delivered, providing data collection, data analysis and business support to management.
  • Conduct assessments to drive quality and standardisation of implementation, identifying conflicts, issues and opportunities for improvement. Includes the establishment and maintenance of metrics that give feedback on performance and progress.


This role is full time at 37 hours per week and can be working on a hybrid basis from our HMNB Clyde.


Essential experience of the Business Improvement Specialist:

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma
  • Lean principal techniques and demonstration.
  • Business process reengineering
  • Project Management
  • Change Management
