  • Are you an existing experienced middle or senior leader who is ready to take the next step in their career? We are looking to appoint a committed, ambitious and reflective professional to the post of EYFS/KS1 leader.
  • Hawthorns Primary is a small 1form entry school situated in Durrington, Worthing. We have our own 'Little Owls' Nursery provision which feeds into the school and supports excellent transition and early learning experiences as well as support the ethos and culture of the school.

We are a school with a clear vision:
to provide the highest quality of provision to all our pupils. We are looking for a talented, experienced, and equally enthusiastic teacher and leader to fulfil our vision. As EYFS/KS1 lead, you will be class based (0.6) and have regular dedicated release time for leadership responsibilities.

You will work closely with the Headteacher to determine the strategic direction of the school and nursery, lead on developing excellent teaching practice and drive standards and outcomes for our children.

This is a very exciting opportunity to play a significant part in the development of this rapidly improving school and to further your leadership skills.


  • You will:
  • Have a proven track record and experience of leading initiatives which bring about improved outcomes for children
Be an exceptional teacher with the ability to motivate and inspire children whilst maintaining high expectations

  • Have a detailed understanding of how children learn effectively, meeting the needs of all pupils and ensuring they are able to reach their learning potential
  • Have an understanding of school improvement including the processes through which schools can raise standards and the strategies they can use to improve pupil outcomes
  • Have a high ambition for the achievement of every child in the school through inclusive methods and approaches
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills showing an ability to work closely and professionally with colleagues as part of a team
  • Know how to build excellent relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues and show a commitment to working in partnership with the whole school community
  • Have creative ideas and an ability to translate them into inclusive practice
  • Have a positive attitude, a determination to succeed and a love of teaching
