Role Summary


The Technical Superintendent - Well Control Equipment shall provide technical support to the company as part of the technical department.


This is a full-time onshore role based in Aberdeen, with ad-hoc visits to rigs and remote locations to fulfil role expectations.


Responsibilities:


  • Drive fleet compliance with Borr Drilling's technical policies and standards.
  • Drive initiatives to ensure continual improvement in the systems and processes employed within Borr Drilling in relation to technical issues.
  • Responsible for global fleet spares well control equipment management in terms of equipment inspection, overhaul, preservation, and certification.
  • Work in conjunction with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure fleet spare equipment availability for major overhauls, certification requirements, and potential future drilling contracts.
  • Improve and maintain the global overview of well control equipment and its certification status in relation to operational rigs and future well control equipment requirements.
  • Provide technical support during SPS/Reactivation project activity.
  • Work in conjunction with Borr drillings newbuild team to ensure technical compliance of newbuild assets and Quality control during commissioning.
  • Support tender and contract reviews and attend potential client meetings as required with respect to well control equipment requirements.
  • Perform rig and warehouse audits to ensure well control equipment remains compliant with regulatory requirements and Borr standards.
  • Focal point for receiving requests for technical support utilizing own knowledge or seeking information from inhouse and external resources as necessary to provide satisfactory responses.
  • Support offshore personnel as required in resolving NPT (nonproductive time) incidents and equipment breakdowns on the rigs, as well as longer term technical issues affecting the Borr fleet.
  • Review equipment failures and lead with a proactive approach to determine root causes and to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Advise and amend the content of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and maintenance processes, especially in relation to well control equipment.
  • Assist in upgrades to the rigs, ensuring compliance with the Management of Change policy and overseeing suitable project management of the upgrades/modifications in accordance with Borr Drilling policies and procedures.
  • Liaise, as directed, with relevant external parties on technical issues e.g. Class, Flag, shelf state regulators, clients, third party vendors, OEMs etc.
  • Assist the rig's operational teams in ensuring technical compliance with Class, Flag, shelf state and contractual requirements for each rig.
  • Assist with Marketing department requests for technical advice.
  • Assist in the recruitment and assessment of technical personnel onshore and offshore.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.
  • The role will require travel overseas to Regional locations (both onshore and offshore) as and when required.
Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive oil & gas experience in an engineering/technical capacity with at least specific experience related to well control equipment.
  • Relevant engineering or equivalent technical qualification desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of equipment and systems on drilling rigs from a well control equipment background.
  • Previous experience working either for a well control equipment OEM or repair facility, or as a member of an offshore/onshore drilling rig maintenance team.
  • Experience and knowledge of maintenance systems and technical documentation requirements.
  • Experience with Classification, Flag state and shelf state rules and requirements.
  • Welldeveloped problemsolving skills and techniques to identify root causes and potential solutions.
  • Project management/rig upgrade experience is desirable.
  • Possess strong personnel and administrative skills.
  • Ability to liaise with drilling rigs' technical teams and rig management teams.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with external parties (client, OEM, vendors, regulators etc).
  • High levels of selfmotivation with the ability to work under pressure and outside of normal working hours.
