Description
Do you work well within a team? Do you thrive off helping others? Do you want to enhance your clinical skills? Then keep on reading

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate individual to come and join our friendly therapy team, working on Critical Care at Royal Preston Hospital.

Our 34 bedded unit cares for the most critically ill patients around the North West.

As a specialist regional centre for neurosurgery, vascular surgery, oncology and major trauma we look after patients with a broad spectrum of illnesses including brain injuries, respiratory conditions and complex surgeries.

Our therapy team consists of Occupational Therapists (OT) and Physiotherapists (PT), however we work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team, including Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians and the medical and nursing teams.

The role involves working closely with OT's and Physio's to support them to provide specialist rehabilitation.

You will also work unsupervised, when safe to do so, to continue patients rehab and complete administration duties to ensure the smooth running of our team.

No 2 days are the same - from assisting with complex rehab sessions to supporting with the treatment of acutely unwell patients to speaking with families gaining more personal information about patients.

Without you, our team could not run as efficiently.

We need you to help make a positive impact on our patient's lives when they're at their most vulnerable

At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals we pride ourselves on providing excellent care with compassion with patients at the heart of everything we do.

We are a forward thinking department with a real emphasis on staff development and training.

Interested?

For more details regarding the role, or if you would like to arrange a visit to the critical care unit and to meet our team, then please do not hesitate to get in contact with one of our team leads:
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive team and learn valuable new skills.

You will need to have effective communication skills to liaise with other members of the MDT, patients, their relatives and outside agencies.

You will directly support the delivery of therapy to patients, manage your own caseload, feedback to therapists regarding patient response to treatment or any changes in their condition and support the team in ensuring our data collection is up to date.

Our therapy team promotes a positive and supportive culture for all our staff to learn and grow as individuals and as a team.

We will provide you with in-house training to gain specialist skills to work with patients in the critical care setting.

At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust there is an established training programme for all mandatory clinical skills, and potential for wider learning opportunities.

You will receive regular supervision from a senior member of the team, to help support your personal and professional development.

You'll also have the opportunity to attend the therapy assistant forum where you will meet other therapy assistants working for the trust.

The forum is a great place to discuss potential for development and provides an opportunity for training from guest speakers and staff in other areas of the Trust.

We will also support you to attend any relevant internal and external courses such as the in-service cognitive training led by the Core Therapies Occupational Therapy Team.

Critical Care can be challenging at times but also very rewarding and if you think you have what it takes then it would be great to hear from you.

We promise you'll never be bored
