Salary:
£19,000 - £21,500 per annum


Hours: 37.5 Hours; Monday to Friday


Contract:
Permanent; Term Time _(Plus 5 days Training, 39 Weeks Total)_


We are looking for an experienced Science Tutor to join our fantastic team at Physis.
We are looking for a Science Tutor to ensure that the special educational needs of
our pupils are met.

You will take a creative approach to tutoring pupils & provide a consistent and efficient service in line with the organisations aim, therefore providing a high quality of education.


This is a great opportunity for a Science Tutor who wants to spend time developing creative learning methods, to meet the needs of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) / Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).

What we are looking for:


  • Experience working with young people with Additional Educational Needs
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
  • Recent and relevant experience as an effective Tutor, or 2 years or more as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Training or expertise on a relevant curriculum (e.g. Science)
  • Experience of planning and implementing personalised plans for students with special educational needs and working knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Patient and engaging tutor who can provide targeted lessons to a student's needs
  • Highly effective teamwork skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and deliver tuition according to the educational needs of the pupils assigned to you, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupil in and out of the school setting.
  • To ensure that the pupils you tutor are supervised as specified in their Care Plans and Placement Plans.
  • Report on attendance, attainment and engagement for all tutoring sessions
  • At all times effectively, accurately and professionally communicate and consult with parents, carers and other professionals.
  • Set and maintain high standards, expectations and aspirations for both staff and students, ensuring they are treated with dignity, respect and that they receive appropriate guidance, support and recognition.
  • Complete training as required and commit to safeguarding principles.

The Requirements

  • A Level (A
  • C) or nationally recognized Level 3 qualification in Science
  • CTLLS, PTLLS, DTLLS, QTLS DET Status or equivalent
  • Other relevant desirable qualifications: e.g. Foundation Degree in Education, Teaching Degree, PGCE Science.
  • Recent and relevant experience as an effective Tutor, or 2 years or more as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Experience of working with students with SEN, SEMH and other complex needs desirable.
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Two professional references
