Description

North Middlesex Maternity:
"A career in Midwifery, not just a job."

This post is an exciting opportunity for a midwife who has a passion for patient safety and quality assurance and standards.

We are looking for a midwife to lead our Antenatal and Newborn screening services at North Middlesex to ensure that that we continue to meet our high standards and maintain our targets.

Are you that person?

We are looking for a midwife who has an eye for detail and has a consistent and thorough approach to their work.

This role would suit someone who has previous screening experience or a good amount of relevant experience and is looking to move into a leadership role.

The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that the screening targets for department are met and must be confident to identify areas of concern and escalate appropriately.

There is also an educational aspect to the role as the postholder will be responsible for ensuring that all maternity staff members are suitably trained and are also kept abreast of any changes or developments within the ANNB screening service.

We are lucky to be able to work and provide care in our beautiful, purpose built maternity unit. We currently look after 4700 births per year and book over 5000 women for antenatal care.

Our service was rated 'Good' by CQC and our improvements over the last 18 months have seen us receiving praise from NHS Improvement.

A CCG Insight visit noted improvements in morale and culture, with staff reporting good support and a culture of learning rather than blame.

We are 100% compliant with Ockenden safety actions and have safety and excellent patient experience at the heart of the service that we deliver.

Our students rate us highly - receiving "Practice Excellence Award 2020" (Poppy Team) from City University and "Outstanding Placement of the Year" (Tulip Team) this year.

Our Bereavement Service received theRCM award for Bereavement carein 2018 and our Perinatal mental health team were awarded theNMC Excellence in Mental Health Award in 2021.

In 2021 we received the Capital Midwife Preceptorship Mark. Our maternity service now receives 5 star reviews on NHS choices

Our Trust has staff accommodation in North London and is situated within easy reach of London rail terminals and central London.

We are in Zone 4, making travel to work less expensive, as well as offering on-site parking.

This is a service on the up, and we recognise that there is great competition in London to get the best midwives into their workforce.

We believe that at North Middlesex you can truly flourish.

Please see the attached Job description and Person specification for more information on the duties and requirements.
