Description
A new opportunity has arisen within LondonEnergy Ltd for a
Senior Site Supervisor. This role will ensure the efficient operation of the
Hornsey Street Waste Transfer Station.


LondonEnergy Ltd operates the second largest waste management companies in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London's waste every year.


As the Senior Site Supervisor, you will assist the Site Manager by overseeing a team of 7 Supervisors and 17 Operatives.


Your role is to ensure the following:

Compliance:


  • To assist the Site Manager to ensure the performance is in accordance with the Contract and that the operation complies with the Environmental Permits and conditions therein and ensure all noncompliance issues are dealt with as per company practice.
  • Ensure the site operates in a safe and effective manner and that all company policies and procedures are adhered to and up to date at all times.
  • To deputise for the Site Manager in carrying out the role of COTC 'competent person' at Hornsey Street or other LEL sites as required.
  • To carry out regular reviews of all relevant site safe systems of work on a regular basis or as and when demand requires and to implement and communicate changes as appropriate.
  • To assist in ensuring that all issues relating to the Environment Agency including waste tonnage returns are dealt with appropriately and recorded as required
- this includes maintaining the site diary.

  • To ensure that all site office requirements are compiled to including, shift working rota/pattern, employee timecards and clock system, absence RTW interviews all in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Operations Supervision:


  • To ensure that work areas are fully adequately covered, this includes managing holiday and absence always cover and maintaining staffing levels.
  • To ensure that all site users traverse the site efficiently and in a safe controlled manner in line with Operational Safety Guidance and company policy.
  • To assist the H/S Site Manager in managing and controlling expenditure.
  • To supervise all cleaning and maintenance activities ensuring these are completed when required.
  • To ensure the completion of all operational reports on time and accurately.
  • To make proposals for business development and efficiency improvements and assist the Site Manger in implementing any improvements as applicable.

Plant & Vehicle Management:


  • To organise and ensure effective utilisation of available mobile and static plant to ensure they fulfill the operation requirements and are cost effective.
  • To ensure all static and mobile plan is maintained as per manufacturers guidelines or as company procedure demands require. This includes monitoring daily operator inspection reporting and defect reporting.

People Management:


  • To ensure that all staff operate in a safe and effective manner as per Company Policies and for all employees and visitors to comply with Company Policies and procedures including Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • To assist Site Manager is resolving any employee relations issues at earliest opportunity and provide motivation and leadership to all site personnel.
  • To supervise all subcontractors or other activities on site. Where required liaise with Landlords, other tenants and members of external bodies.
  • Keep you to date the site training matrix including arranging training as required for all staff.

Requirements:


  • You will need to have previous experience of working within the waste industry.
  • It is desirable that you hold WAMITAB (COTC) suitable for running a waste transfer station and have a NEBOSH qualification.
  • You must have proven experience of successfully managing a shiftwork operation.
  • Have the ability to work on your own initiative, demonstrate effective organisational skills and have strong interpersonal skills.
  • To have the ability to work in a pressurised environment.
  • Possess IT skills such as Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • You must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop others.

Benefits

  • We are offering a salary banding of £41,500 £45,000 per annum. You must already have WAMITAB (COTC) and NEBOSH in order to be offered £45,000 per annum.
  • We operate a 39 hour week Monday to Friday and you will not be expected to work weekends or bank holidays.
