We are now looking for a new SENDCo to become a part of the Oakley team to start in January 2024 or as soon as possible.

This is a part-time role.

As well as heading up the SEND team, you may also have some teaching responsibilities in addition to the SENDCo role, if you are interested.


About you:

We are looking for an inspirational, proactive and highly motivated practitioner who is committed to securing the best outcomes for our SEND pupils and is:

  • Inspirational with the energy, drive, ideas and vision to help secure exceptional outcomes at all levels for SEND students.
  • A strong team player with outstanding interpersonal, communication and coaching skills.
  • Honest and reflective with the ability to be sharp with selfevaluation at different levels, being proficient in analysing and using educational data.
  • Able to support, challenge, hold colleagues accountable, and implement appropriate opportunities for sustained improvement.
  • Committed to demonstrating high levels of presence, impact, transparency, integrity and emotional intelligence.
  • An innovative, independent and strategic thinker with the drive and ability to generate and implement fresh ideas to determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEND) policy and provision in the school.
  • A selfmanager who keeps themselves up to date with the educational developments around SEND provision.
  • Expected to meet the teachers' standards and either hold or be willing to work towards the national SENDCo qualification.
  • Able to provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents, and other agencies.
  • Expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the STPCD.
  • Be a part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Support the ethos and values of Oakley CE Combined School.
  • Interested in researchbased approaches to improve the provision for pupils with SEND.
