Coming into a physical building needs to be based around purpose, and that purpose is amplified by a successfully run workplace.

As a member of the Workplace Experience Team, you will play a key role in making sure colleagues and visitors feel welcome and empowered throughout their time with IOP Publishing.

The Community Host will play a pivotal role in delivering The Distillery experience to colleagues.

Representing and being a key evangelist of our Ways of Being, you will elevate our colleague and visitor experience through delivering excellent customer service, offering great communication and problem-solving skills, and having a keen eye for detail.

No two days are the same By being adaptable, adventurous and solution-oriented, you will ensure the seamless day-to-day running of the workplace, meetings and events, as well as deal with occasional visitors, telephone calls, mail and couriers.

Together with the rest of the Workplace Experience Team, you will be passionate about creating and curating a vibrant and supportive working environment that will help build connections, a sense of community and purpose, and inspire people to do their best work.


Key job accountabilities include:


  • Frontofhouse management during hours of operation ensuring the team provides a warm welcome for colleagues and guests.
  • Building relationships with colleagues, anticipating their needs, and finding ways to surprise and delight them. Working closely with colleagues in other teams, such as the Digital team relating to desk, meeting room and visitor systems, and with the People team in relation to onboarding new employees.
  • Technology evangelist, superuser, trainer and troubleshooter for building management products. Becoming familiar with how the smart booking system and meeting room technology works, with support from the Digital team, in order to provide onthespot support for employees and visitors.
  • Delivering the product by ensuring workplaces are always attractive, welcoming and showroom ready.
  • Event hosting supporting meetings, anchor days, presentations and talks ensuring that the wide range of events are successful.
  • Event planning by collaborating with colleagues to plan and deliver community engagement and external visitor events and activities. Supporting the Community Manager in the design, planning, and delivery of community initiatives that will help create a shared sense of belonging and purpose for employees, and provide interesting event spaces for external groups.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous customer service experience, ideally in a hospitality, retail or events background.
  • Well organised, able to prioritise and deal with or escalate issues quickly.
  • A strong eye for detail and a desire for things to look great and run smoothly.
  • Good technology skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Ideally experience in smart building booking systems and meeting room technology
  • Competent in using multidimensional communications channels and social media.
