Job description:

Aardvark Swift are working with a leading UK independent developer as they look for a highly talented mid-level combat designer to join their passionate team.

In this role, you will help to deliver the combat design visions, including inspiring and helping other designers to implement that vision.

You will work closely with programmers, artists, and animators to help define the core gameplay systems, such as player combat, level design, balancing, player progression, UI, interaction, inventory management, player movement/controls and bug fixing.

In addition, you must have an interest in working with a small rapid prototype team to help create future ideas for the company.

Your responsibilities...

Design and implement innovative combat systems, utilising your deep understanding of player engagement and excitement, to deliver thrilling and appropriately challenging gameplay
Design original, fun, and exciting mechanics that support the game's narratives and themes
Maintain very high standards to ensure all game features and content embrace the game vision; giving feedback on other's work across multiple projects
Identify areas of improvement within existing gameplay features and provide alternative solutions where possible

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role

3+ years of industry experience
Experience in professional Unity design
1 shipped title with credits
A bonus if you have a passion or experience on Hack & Slash, Roguelikes, Dungeon Crawlers, and/or Action RPGs
