Our Energy Consulting Services team is geared towards, providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy network, thermal generation, renewable generation, and storage solutions.

We are looking for an experienced Thermal energy technical expert, who is enthusiastic about the Energy Transition. You would join our UK Energy Consulting Services team, based at one of our Germany, UK, or Ireland offices. These include (inter alia): London, Dublin, Berlin, Cork, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Belfast, Edinburgh, Berlin or Munich.


Our fast-growing Energy Consulting Services team is part of our global network of c.1,200 Energy and Power professionals who work collaboratively to help our clients address the challenges and take forward the opportunities in the Energy Transition.

We provide strategic investment and development services and work with leading international energy companies (power generation, energy networks, oil and gas, transmission & distribution), large energy consumers (IT, Aviation, Transport, Industrial & Manufacturing), and government/ public sector.


About the Opportunity


You would work collaboratively with the thermal energy practice and wider energy consulting services teams in the UK, Ireland and globally to provide leadership on carbon capturing and utilization projects.

These includes decarbonisation of flexible power generation plants, Low carbon fuel production, Energy intensive industries and cross - sector clients through strategic investment advisory and project development.

Representing Jacobs in front of clients you will take lead on projects like development of new and retrofitting, or repurposing of existing infrastructure by deploying carbon capture and its utilization assets.


You would work with Jacobs' energy and power:
utilities, energy producers large energy user and public sector clients.


In this role, you will develop deep trust-based relationships with our clients, to build and to create demand for services from across the Jacobs Group.

As a Subject Matter Expert in the business, you will help set the strategy and plan for carbon capture and its utilizations, driving forward the business, modelling our values and behaviours and coaching and developing junior members of the team.


Here's What You'll Need:


  • Delivering technically excellent power consultancy and engineering services covering a range of carbon capture and its utilization technologies.
  • Providing value proposition, carbon capture valuechain and associated economic advisory to our clients.
  • Develop and nurture thermal energy and carbon capturing & utilization skills within Jacobs, including maintaining awareness of innovation and emerging technologies.
  • Extend skills and experience through working on a wide range of Energy Transition projects (e.g. new technologies, hydrogen, low carbon and bio fuels, CCUS and Net Zero hubs) as and when required.
  • Supporting and participating in commercial and contractual negotiation along with a client.
  • Managing or undertaking technical lead / practice review duties on projects delivering on cost, on time and resulting in client satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with our management team and supporting business development to help identify emerging opportunities with clients.
  • Leading on the support of bid preparation and assisting with submittals as required, through supporting sales, operations and market solutions in the pursuit and delivery of financially successful projects.
  • Helping to extend the service offering for the Jacobs Power and Energy business and associated services as they migrate to a low carbon future.
  • Actively engaging with clients across power and energy, enhancing our reputation through strong service delivery and ensuring Jacobs services are actively sought after for technical expertise.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships within Jacobs and in industry.
  • Being engaged in the Jacobs culture of caring, safety culture and promote safety in all aspects of project delivery.

Here is what you will need:
Strong record in commercial contract negotiations and project development stage gate process will be advantageous.


You will have experience working for either oil and gas industry, project developers and operators, utilities, public sector (in thermal energy sector), industrial production sector or contractor or engineering consultancy.

It is preferable you have experience with project development and delivery, engineering organization.

Bringing the experience of technology and proposal evaluation, gap analysis, Feed / Pre-FEED, preliminary and detailed engineering, Owners Engineer, technical due-diligence and writing technical specifications.
