Job description

  • We are currently seeking a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer (Research and Education) in Applied Theatre to join the Drama department at Queen's University Belfast. The department is closely embedded within QUB's Creative Arts cluster (comprising Media and Broadcast production, Film Studies, Creative Writing, Music, Sonic Arts and Arts Management) and, now in its twentiethfifth year, Drama at QUB is a vital element of the creative arts profile of the University and has made significant contributions to the theatre industry locally. Our programmes are researchled, combine practical skills and practice as pedagogy with broad engagement with the field of drama and theatre studies. They offer students many opportunities to gain knowledge of the field, practical skills across a range of theatremaking approaches, and industry experience. The Brian Friel Theatre and studio space offers cutting edge facilities for teaching, making and sharing ideas.
    About the person:
  • PhD (at or near completion) in the broad area of applied theatre, community theatre so social engaged theatre/performance.
  • Proven track record of production, creation and facilitation in applied theatre contexts (e.g. in participation with communities, in primary or secondary education, etc).
  • Track record in publication and /or research in the area of applied and community theatre.
  • Active research profile in a relevant area of area of applied and community theatre.
  • Teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree level in a relevant area or areas of applied and community theatre.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the broad field and emerging trends in the field of applied theatre.
