Due to a newly-arising business need, our Thames Valley team are recruiting for a new role to offer crucial support to our Business Services and Tax departments.


Role Overview
We are looking for an Executive to join our fast-paced Business Solutions Group based in our Reading office.

You will be joining our team to support us when we are changing how we prepare and deliver tax compliance work for our office's accounting clients,which to date has been done by the tax team.

This will be an exciting time and you will have the opportunity to influence how our Business Solutions Group and our Tax Group work together to deliver tax services to our clients in conjunction with the accountsprocess.

There are opportunities to expand the role to include further accounting work, not-for-profit accounts and tax work, and / or some personal tax compliance.


Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities could include some or all of the following.

  • Preparation of Corporation Tax computations, and review of routine computations prepared by others. This will include preparation of Corporation Tax computations and returns where required for charity trading subsidiaries and occasionally for Charitiestoo.
  • Preparation of financial statements for Companies, Partnerships and sole traders to manager review.
  • Preparation of Charity Accounts through to manager review.
  • Preparation of year end accounts through to manager review.
  • Dealing with basic client queries and problem solving.
  • Adhering to deadlines or at least notifying the client and Manager where problems are likely to arise.
  • Take responsibility for your work and must be able to multi task in an organised manner. You must time plan your own work and client appointments.
  • Meeting clients facetoface and developing good rapport acting in a professional manner.
  • Listen to client's needs. Be sympathetic where necessary and remain patient.
  • Offer clients a valueadded service, tailor accounts to client's needs and recognise what information they are looking for from their reports and accounts. Understand their internal controls and where weaknesses are identified, suggest improvements.
  • Ensure you understand the services that Crowe can offer and identify areas that a client could benefit from other services discuss cross selling opportunities with the client Manager/Partner.
  • Helping others within the department and acting as a team player.

The role requirements

Technical skills, experience & knowledge:

Required:


  • High standard of Word and Excel.
  • Diligent and good attention to detail.
  • Able to work on own initiative, but also be a team player.
  • Able to focus and concentrate in a busy, fastpaced working environment.
  • Proven experience of preparation of accounts, corporation tax and VAT returns. Personal tax experience an advantage.

Desirable:


  • Knowledge of IRIS accounts production, corporation tax and personal tax modules. Training can be provided.
  • Knowledge of CCH, AlphaTax and Caseware. Training can be provided.
  • Knowledge of a varied range of accounting software e.g. Xero, Sage, Dext (formerly Receipt Bank), etc.

Qualifications:


  • Ideally ACA/ACCA/CIMA or CTA qualified, but partqualified with suitable experience will be considered.
