We are looking for a
buyer to join our UK Procurement Operations team and support us in ensuring we get value for money in everything we buy to support our drive to improve well-being globally through our leading health and hygiene solutions.


In the UK we manufacture our own leading tissue products, Cushelle toilet tissue and Plenty kitchen roll across 7 manufacturing sites.


About the Role:


In this role which can be based at any one of our UK sites, either in the North East (Prudhoe), the North West ( Manchester Trafford Park or Skelmersdale), or North Wales (Oakenholt) you will focus on the purchase of engineering parts and services.


You will be joining a team of buyers responsible for buying goods and services to support our business, both operational manufacturing sites and commercial offices.

The key focus will be to drive value for money and reliability of supply through both planned and reactive procurement activity.

This could span purchases such as packaging for our products, machine spare parts, or services for any part of the business.


You will be joining a fast-paced team focused on delivering results to both manage customer expectations and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).

What You Will Do:

Day to day you will

  • Meet high expectations in delivering total cost savings and cost avoidance
  • Drive procurement activities, taking the lead in negotiating whilst managing risk
  • Perform spend and market analysis
  • Support development and implementation of supply stream (category) strategies for procurement of goods and services
  • Act as project leader in crossfunctional project teams
  • Build sustainable relationships with suppliers and internal customers
  • Ensure a high quality of vendor master data
  • Ensure compliance with Essity processes

Who you are:

We would love to hear from you if you have;

  • Proven experience as a buyer
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment (desirable)
  • Experience of purchasing engineering parts (MRO) (desirable)
  • CIPS membership and Graduate Diploma in Purchasing & Supply (desirable)
  • Strong analytical competence, combined with advanced excel skills
  • Strong procedural approach
  • Welldeveloped communication skills with the ability to constructively challenge and negotiate SAP knowledge (including ARIBA desirable)


Critical to the success of the role will be your ability to understand operational needs and translate these into cost effective solutions.

You will be adept at managing multiple priorities, combining strategic planned work with reactive operational demands.
