NHS Wales - Trainee Clinical Scientists - Clinical Engineering (Rehabilitation Engineering)

Gain a masters degree and specialist work-based experience through a nationally recognised training programme

Starting salary will be on the first point of Band 6 on a 3 year fixed term contract.


The NHS in Wales is offering two salaried post-graduate training programmes for high calibre engineering graduates who are passionate about science, engineering and its role in patient care.

The training posts are in theClinical Engineeringspeciality, and offer the sub-specialism of Rehabilitation Engineering.

  • Rehabilitation Engineeringprovides the chance to work closely with patients; providing engineering solutions to their complex needs to enhance their mobility, posture and pressure management

Trainees are enrolled for a fully funded part-time vocational masters degree, currently provided at King's College, London. Trainees may be required to rotate through other areas which will involve secondments at other locations. On completion of training, prospects for permanent employment within Wales are excellent. For individuals with aptitude and commitment there are opportunities to progress through the career pathway to Consultant Clinical Scientist. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are motivated to pursue their career within Wales.

The training is aligned with the Scientific Training Programme (STP) and supported by the National School of Healthcare Science.
