We are seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated part-qualified Actuary to join our Life and Financial services practice in the UK.


Milliman's Life and Financial Services practice in the UK offers a high standard of consulting services to financial service providers such as life insurance and reinsurance companies, asset managers, investment banks, and regulatory bodies.

Our consulting services for our clients include merger and acquisition services, restructuring advice and implementation, independent review, Chief Actuary and With-Profits Actuary roles, and risk and capital management services.

Our client base includes firms in the UK, Europe and the US.


You will be working as part of project teams to deliver consulting solutions to a wide range of our clients.

Your role would involve supporting the development of models and the production and analysis of actuarial results and reports for client assignments as well as contributing to research and marketing.


Responsibilities

  • Manage or assist in the technical aspects of specific client assignments within the agreed budgets and timeframe;
  • Process and handle large and complex data;
  • Develop and implement analytical tools;
  • Attend client meetings as required;
  • Assist in client relationship management and support senior members of the team to manage client expectations on specific projects;
  • Provide timely, efficient and professional delivery of services to clients;
  • Understand and comply with the Life and Financial Services practice's risk management processes and procedures;
  • Ensure that, for the assignments being managed, compliance is fully documented;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the practice's marketing plan;
  • Assist in the delivery of presentations and the production of articles in collaboration with other members of the team;
  • Keep up to date with changes in the insurance environment and the company's propositions;
  • Maintain high standards of technical knowledge and understanding of risk and actuarial issues, keeping abreast of market and professional developments;
  • Disseminate this knowledge and understanding amongst colleagues and, where appropriate, clients;
  • Provide assistance as and when needed to other team members;
  • Carry out all tasks within the job holder's level of skill and ability.

Requirements:


Qualification:


  • An undergraduate degree

Licences & certifications

  • Partqualified actuary

Experience and knowledge:


_ Essential:
_


  • Knowledge of the UK Life Insurance Market and associated actuarial issues;
  • Relevant Life Insurance/Reinsurance Company or Consultancy background;
  • Experience in core actuarial services (e.g. Financial Reporting, Capital Management, Pricing, Risk Management);
  • Experience of working with Excel (including VBA), Word, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.

_Desirable_

  • Experience in Business Development and Marketing;
  • Predictive analytics and data science experience as well as programming skills (e.g. R, Python).
