Description

Acorn is currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer or Design Engineer who must be able to demonstrate the ability to work to the high standards set by our client.

The Senior/Design Engineer will ideally have experience in mechanical engineering and have knowledge of hydraulics and mobile electrics and will be working on projects - mainly designing rail maintenance machines.


Job duties:

  • Covering all aspects of design using CAD packages
  • Working with approval bodies and standards UK and European Union
  • Working through the whole project life cycle mechanical design, calculations all the way to the final product
  • Working with employees on the shop floor to realise the design

Skills required:

  • Experience within an engineering environment would be advantageous
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Team player

Qualifications:
BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering would be beneficial.

Hours of work:

  • Monday
  • Thursday, 07:30 16:30 (1/2hour lunch, unpaid)
  • Friday, 07:30 13:30 (no lunch)
  • Minimum 40hour week

Further role details:
This position is monthly paid, and the salary will be confirmed, depending on experience.

The Company currently runs an auto-enrolment pension scheme with Royal London, with a total contribution being made of 9% (4.5% employee & 4.5% employer).

You will have21 days' annual leave, plus 8 Bank/Public Holidays per calendar year (Jan - Dec).
