The Dept. of Haematology at King's is one of the leading UK centres for the care of patients with haematological disorders.

The department provide a comprehensive haematology service covering diagnosis, treatment and support and is one of few comprehensive centres for haematology and cares for patients with malignant disorders (leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, Aplastic Anaemia, MDS) and non-malignant disorders (Sickle Cell Disease).

We are seeking self-motivated people who are able to efficiently manage their time and workload.

They should have excellent communication and customer service skills, IT experience and the ability to manage their own workload to meet deadlines in a busy environment with many demands on their time.

The successful applicants will possess excellent organizational, telephone, and typing skills.

The Administrators work in providing a Reception service, and taking care with preparation of patient records and administrative needs of the Units.


To be responsible for the administrative organisation and smooth running of clinics as detailed on the work programme, including the pulling and preparation of notes, the accurate recording/inputting of data related to the clinic and patient demographic details.


To conduct the business of the reception desk/area quietly and calmly; communicating effectively with patients, nursing, medical and other staff to promote the best environment for the efficient running of the clinic.


Where relevant to the service to provide an efficient and responsive service ensuring the Two Week Wait Cancer Initiative is adhered to.


The post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and well being and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountability associated with this post.

To locate all medical notes from all areas of the hospital.

To renew all old notes and amalgamate all temporary notes.

To organise notes in correct order and secure all loose notes.


To work with other reception from other areas of the hospital such booking transport, booking appointment and providing information required by patient and relatives.

Keep and monitor areas for orderliness and cleanliness.

To deal with patients, relatives and staffs enquiries as required.

Keep reception area presentable at all times

Monitor and keep accurate records using electronic system required

Liaise with multidisciplinary team

To support training needs of new staff
