Apprentice Accounts Assistant
Reporting To:
Financial Controller
Salary:
Starting salary of £18,000 (based on a 4-day week with one day off to attend college)
Objective:
To ensure the financial system is an accurate representation of all invoices, both purchase and sales, for Milbank Concrete Products Limited
A conscientious and dedicated individual is required to become a key part of the finance team.
Main Duties
- Raise all sales invoices/credit notes (Valuations, Applications, Invoices and Pro Forma Invoices) in the manufacturing system (4P) and ensure exported correctly into Sage 200
- Chase any outstanding paperwork required to process invoices (completion certificates, proof of delivery notes) to ensure timely and prompt invoicing.
- Update daily the sales upload schedule once invoices raised.
- Taking card payments from customers.
- Assisting with customer queries relating to sales invoices and credit notes raised.
- Maintaining sales reports in the manufacturing system to assist in reconciling sales invoices.
- Ad hoc sales ledger tasks as required.
- Log all purchase invoices received daily, distribute to relevant departments as necessary and update the log once posted into Sage 200.
- Check the invoice is valid and has correct details (addressed to MCP, VAT number, correct date etc.).
- Ensure the nominal coding on invoices is correct and assist with posting all purchase invoices onto 4P.
- Reconcile and post company credit cards onto the manufacturing system/Sage 200.
- Reconcile supplier statements and assist with chasing any missing items.
- Assist with supplier queries.
- Assist the Financial Controller with other ad hoc duties (which may include bank reconciliations, petty cash postings and canteen receipts) and month end procedures.
Skills & Abilities
- Hard working & able to meet strict deadlines.
- Accurate and good attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to plan work and prioritise tasks.
- Organised.
- Prepared to work flexibly within the requirements of the business.
- Computer literate including MS Excel (basic to intermediate), MS Word & Outlook.
- General accounting software experience (advantageous).
