Place of work:
Street based GU46/GU17 (working in a team with other Detached Youth Workers)

Working Hours:

Applicants will be able to work within the Vision 4 Youth ethos and values and demonstrate this in their engagement with young people, and work colleagues.

The hours of work will be set in agreement with the project leader.

There will be flexible working hours between 5pm - 9pm (usually 3 hours per session) for up to 2 evenings per week (one evening will be weekly, the other would just be sickness/absence cover).

Currently the team go out on Monday and Thursday evenings.

About the Role:

The Detached Youth Work team work to engage with the young people in the local community, to support them and encourage good behaviour.

They are to be seen as a positive role model for all young people met, and contribute to their emotional, social and spiritual development.

The youth workers offer signposting advice to other services when relevant. It is a sociable role that engages with other members of the community, such as local shops and residents. They liaise with the police and secondary schools as/when required and occasionally attend meetings if necessary. The team walk the streets of Yateley and Darby Green during term time and school holidays.

The role requires a report each session, in order to gather data about the work undertaken, which helps obtain future funding so that the project can continue for the foreseeable future.

All V4Y Youth Workers are expected to carry a high level of professionalism, honesty and integrity, and consider the safeguarding of the young people met as the top priority.

Experience of working with young people is a requirement for the role.
