Purchasing Assistant
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Assistant to join one of the South West's leading subcontractors operating in the roofing and cladding sector.
We are looking for someone with the commitment and enthusiasm to embrace this role and become a pivotal member of the team.
A trainee with some office skills would be considered. Experience within the construction industry would be hugely beneficial.
The role:
- Raise purchase orders on Sage for materials, access, tools and equipment, being aware of supplier cut off points, demand for materials on site and costs
- Check order acknowledgements against scheduled materials
- Chase suppliers for Estimated Time of Arrival or Proof of Delivery
- Contact suppliers with regards to disputed invoices.
- Maintain stock on Sage, allocating products and materials to specific project. Carry out regular stock checks, maintain accurate records to ensure that unnecessary purchases are avoided
- Maintain detailed records of equipment and tools, including hired equipment
- React efficiently to material requests from site
Role requirements:
- Strong numeracy & literacy skills
- Attention to detail essential
- Organised, selfmotivated and proactive
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative in a busy office is essential, and to know when to ask for help
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word, Excel & Outlook
- Sage experience preferred
