Description

Eaton House The Manor Girls' School are currently seeking a three day per week Head of Humanities to lead on the teaching of Geography, History and TPR across the school.

This is an exciting new role for someone with a passion for the Humanities curriculum to join the team from September 2023.

The curriculum is generally split between human geography, which covers settlements, population studies, and economic activity; and physical geography, which focuses on processes that change and shape our planet.

Both junior and senior girls will cover a variety of topics that enhance their knowledge and skills in geographical enquiry.

Practical fieldwork experience and knowledge-based units are used to prepare the girls for their continued study of geography at their senior schools.

In history lessons pupils soon learn that the past can help us better understand the present. They develop knowledge of chronology, helping them to organise their understanding of past events and people. They carry out their own research and begin to understand the nature of evidence in all its diverse forms.

They try to interpret primary and secondary sources and weigh them up and reach their own conclusions about the perspective and motivation of people in the past.

It has been said that history is often written by the winners.

By equipping pupils with questioning, analytical and research skills they learn to appreciate and understand there is more than one side to every story.

There is a 'sky is the limit' approach to learning at Eaton House The Manor Girls' School and all our pupils are encouraged to use their intelligence in a dynamic way to demonstrate quick, reasoned and engaging responses to the world about them.

We treat each girl as an individual so that she can blossom academically and socially.

We want each girl to have the confidence to discover where her gifts lie in a calm and purposeful atmosphere, where her spiritual, moral and intellectual development is nurtured.

Eaton House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the DBS.
