Opportunity:


At Switch Mobility we are going through an exciting period of growth and we currently have an exciting role in our Sherburn in Element manufacturing site for a Production Operative (Coachbuilder).


As a key member of the Production team, you (Coach Builders) play a key role in the manufacture of single and double deck buses.

Always ensuring every task in the build process is completed to the highest quality standards, the role works within a continuous hand assembly process - working with relevant tools and machinery ensuring the production process continues to flow efficiently.


Your duties within this role include:

Experience/Qualifications:


  • Undertaking tasks within the hand assembly production process to the highest quality standards.
  • Tasks include measuring, marking out, cutting, assembly and building of parts.
  • Interior fibreglass component fitment including dry fit, trimming, surface prep and bonding, fixing using a range of adhesives and mechanical fastenings.


  • Vehicle glazing

  • Bonded glass fitting from surface prep to backsealed finish.
  • Interior plastic polymer (ABS) capping, coves and ceiling panel fitting measuring, marking out, surface prep and bonding.
  • Passenger seat fitment working with engineering layout drawings, mechanically fixing seats into saloons.
  • Final build activities fitting exterior mirrors, legal labels, cab build, panel and bonnet alignment.
  • Participate in process improvement activities.

Essential Qualifications:


  • A qualification in vehicle body building or comprehensive assembly work experience.

Essential Skills & Requirements:


  • Previous experience of at least three areas of the Production Assembly Line (i.e. vehicle glazing, passenger seat fitting, interior ABS capping coves and ceiling panel fitting, etc)
  • Experience of working with materials such as aluminium, steel, GRP, plastics and timber.
  • Experience of working with relevant tools e.g. basic hand tools and air operated tools, etc
  • An understanding of engineering drawings
  • Experience of Health & Safety practices

Desirable Skills & Requirements:


  • Familiarity with the 5S lean principles (Sort, Set In order, Shine, Standardise and Sustain)
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and layouts.
