Associated Wellbeing Limited are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Healthcare Assistants, who would like to make a positive change to the lives of young people that we support at our Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit in Darwen.

This position is for night shifts only.


We offer trauma informed mental health care to children of either gender from age eight, up to their eighteenth birthday.

We provide step-down care for children who are ready to be discharged from Tier 4 child and adolescent mental health wards but may require additional support before returning home.

We offer multidisciplinary assessment and trauma informed formulation driven care, aimed at supporting the safety and stabilisation of young people with complex needs and who are supported by Children's Social Care.

Specialist interventions, including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) can be offered and we also provide an outreach service.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who is kind, caring and compassionate.

You need to be able to work independently and use initiative, but equally work as part of a wider team.

A positive attitude is imperative along with excellent communication and listening skills.

The role includes, engaging the hard to engage and instilling hope in young people who struggle to see what tomorrow looks like.

Enhanced DBS with both Adult and Child Barred List Checked


RESPONSIBLE TO:
Nurse in Charge/Registered Manager/Deputy Manager


ACCOUNTABLE TO:
Registered Manager/Service Manager


HOURS AND DURATION:
37.5 hours per week, 12 hour shifts. Night shifts.


You will be required to work weekends, bank holidays and nights due to being a 24-hour service, 365 days a year.

Job Summary:

We are looking for motivated and compassionate individuals to help support children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


Young People Client Care:


  • Engaging young people and developing therapeutic relationships.
  • Supporting young people through therapeutic interventions/programs.
  • To assist with activities of daily living, social, recreational and occupational activities including supporting young people into the community.
  • To use a variety of verbal and nonverbal skills to overcome communication barriers presented by young people due to their mental health needs.
  • To use skills and techniques to deescalate situations where service users present with a risk to self or others.
  • To contribute to the development of person centred careplans and risk management plans by reporting to the qualified practitioner any issues or concerns regarding young people's behaviour towards themselves and others.
  • Attending meetings to share feedback about young person's presentation.
  • Completing records and notes in accordance with policy.
  • Safeguarding young people.
  • Organising with the young person a weekly planner.
  • Life skills development.
  • Physical health monitoring (Training will be provided).
  • Empowering young people to be the best they can be.
  • General housekeeping.
  • Working with young person to prepare meals.
  • Use of DBT language
  • Training will be provided.
  • Working with families and carers.
  • Adhere to data protection act and policies.
  • Attend and participate in handovers.
  • Monitoring young people's health and wellbeing and reporting back to senior staff.
  • Information governance.
  • Work with the wider/local community in a positive manner.
