This is an exciting opportunity to join Royal Oldham Maternity service as an antenatal clinic and maternal medicine Midwife.

We are on an incredible journey with our Maternity Improvement Programme which will enhance and enrich the services we can offer to women, birthing people and their families who access our care and we would love for you to join us.


We are currently in the process of rolling out of Badgernet digital maternity record, an end to end digital solution which will include neonatal care.


We are developing our Maternal medicine service in line with national recommendations to ensure women and birthing people who have complex maternal health requirement receive the best possible care.

This includes those with hypertension, cardiac disease and epilepsy


You will be a confident role model demonstrating and ensuring high standards of care is effectively delivered to women, birthing people and their families attending the Antenatal clinic.

You will be calm confident and assertive in emotionally demanding situations.

Have excellent communication skills.


Support the development of a culture within the maternity service, which is open to and empowers innovation, creativity and learning at ward and departmental level.


Help to provide a service which values, respects and strengthens the differing cultures and backgrounds of the families using our service and to adopt a friendly, supportive and non-judgemental approach to staff, mothers, babies and families.


To work in the antenatal clinic providing antenatal care to all patients with a focus on women accessing maternal medicine clinics including hypertension.

Practice, maintain and teach clinical skills to appropriate staff groups, e.g. student midwives and junior colleagues and work alongside the multidisciplinary team to provide safe, holistic individualised care to all.

Today, Oldham is responsible for delivering a range of acute and community health services across the local area and at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

As a designated major trauma unit for Greater Manchester and one of only three vascular centres in Greater Manchester, Oldham is a specialist hospital for acute surgery and provides state-of-the-art onsite pathology services to the North West.

Work in partnership with the patient, obstetrician and other agencies to ensure optimum care.

Asses, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients in accordance with the trust policies and guidelines.


Assist the Band 7 Specialist maternal medicine Midwife to ensure that high standards of quality of care are delivered & maintained.

Act as a support to the Band 7 Specialist Midwife and deputise when necessary to ensure continuity of the delivery of a high standard of care


Actively promote the concept of total holistic patient centred care within the maternity service and offer choice to patients regarding place of birth.

Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle advising and arranging support for patients as required.

Is able and expected to teach, lead and manage qualified and other staff, including student midwives.
