Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are recruiting for a contract Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at a successful, bespoke special purpose machine manufacturer based in West Manchester. The role is available on a 6-month contract with immediate start and will involve working on special purpose machinery and manufacturing cells that require robots and/or cobots.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special purpose machinery and/or manufacturing cells using robots/cobots complying with CE Machinery Directive.
Design for an OEM, special purpose machine manufacturer or systems integrator with previous experience in this field.
Utilize 3D CAD mechanical design experience using SolidWorks.
Work within a multi-skilled environment with knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components.
Perform engineering calculations e.g. force a cylinder would create and/or beam stress calculations.
Conduct sheet metal design.
Deliver commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are cost-effective and manage design changes according to standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

Experience in designing special purpose / automated machine design.
Knowledge of designing manufacturing cells that require robots and/or cobots.
UK driving licence required for occasional day trips to site to carry out surveys.
