We have a fantastic opportunity for a
Permanent Operations Planner - Access to join our
CEFA account in Motherwell.


Amey has been working in partnership with Network Rail
since 2009 to deliver the Civils Examinations and Assessment Framework Agreements.

We are responsible to undertake the examination and assessment of railway structures across the UK.

Across the country our teams deliver several different workstreams within Civil Examinations/Assessments; broadly categorised into structures examinations, structures assessments, operational property inspections/assessments and earthworks examinations.

By gathering intelligence around the condition of them and how they are developing and changing, this will form the basis of decision making for future intervention and safety of the assets to prevent functional failure.

These assets are part of the heritage of our country, and we need to ensure that they are safe to meet today's needs as well as tomorrow's.

We also operate a 24/7 365 days a year on-call service so that we can respond promptly to any incidents and inspect the site to ensuring we keep trains and passengers moving.


Operations Planner - Access plays an important part in working as part of the with the CEFA regional planning team to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective provision of track access and safety critical resource to support the delivery of the CEFA project.


The standard hours of work are full time hrs per week.

You will be responsible for:


  • Working as an integral part of the Planning team to participate in the assessment, development and enhancement of access planning systems and processes within the CEFA business.
  • Liaise with other Regional Planners and the Regional Planning Managers to ensure the standardisation of planning processes and systems across CEFA.
  • Assist the CEFA Route Manager(s) and Programme Manager(s) with the creation, development and enhancement of the baseline programme, including the provision of cost and resource information.
  • Assist in the provision of support to the CEFA Delivery teams to ensure that the programme is planned to optimise the track access and safety critical resource available; and that their requirements are regularly reviewed and are effectively progressed.
  • Assisting in forecasting resource demand and resolving resource conflicts during the longterm planning process, including the procurement of safetycritical suppliers where required to support and enhance the core team
  • Deputise for the Regional Planning Manager to undertake onsite management and oncall responsibilities as Duty Manager as required.
  • Promote safe working practices; ensure full implementation and compliance with Key Processes and Safety Responsibility.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in track access planning and safety-critical resourcing & knowledge of track access planning processes and systems
  • SSOW planning competence
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • PTS
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Ideally you will have experience in or hold
Rail safety critical competence (COSS, ES, SWL1/2)
***In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have
SMSTS / IOSH Managing Safe Work knowledge would be useful to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
